I just finished reading too much vitriolic thoughtless hatred directed at a man I love. I am not particularly close to him. Nor do I think he is perfect, but I have written about him before and I do love and respect him. As I read I was discouraged to see how badly he was misrepresented. I was distressed by the level of libel I read from two men that claim to love Jesus and completely got lost in their own brains and lost sight of the truth. There is no point on posting on either of their blogs. They aren't really worth reading or engaging.
But for the record let me state it clearly and loudly, Bob Hyatt, is loved by Jesus. He loves Jesus. He is thoughtful, articulate, careful, and my pastor. I accept his cautions and his encouragements.
It is a shame that there are people out there that misrepresent him so badly, cause really... he is a good guy and worthy of the honour given to a servant of the King. I am thankful that I get to hear him teach most weeks. I am grateful that he takes time to pastor me and my family. I am grateful that he is making a difference in this city as He builds the portion of the wall of the kingdom assigned to him by the Father.
It is hard not to sling arrows at the men that attack him. Instead I opt to pray for them, "God these are sick men. How may I be of service to them. Save me from being angry. Thy will not mine be done." I trust the rest to him.
In this instance, watching Bob's back means letting him know how loved and appreciated he is. Bob, hope you're reading...
